Portugal doesn't have the same kind of central heating systems as other countries, due to the weather being so hot for a big proportion of the year. The properties are designed for hot weather.

However, Portugal can still be cold in winter, though often not as cold as other countries. The main sources of heating the villa are through the open fire and under floor heating. There are some heaters but the property doesn't cope well with a lot of electricity being used at once. Guests often don't come prepared with the right clothes for it being cold, especially in the evenings, and are not used to the heating system being different.

We have blocked out the winter dates because of this, but are happy to unblock them if you would like to go. Please send us an email and we can sort it out.
We want to be clear about the situation, so people know what they are coming to.

We also do not rent out the downstairs bedroom from November to March due to it being too difficult to heat.
