The Algarve is known for it's reputation of having some of the most stunning beaches in the world.

And now, the one you've all been waiting for......Wine tours!

Some of these places we've been to and tried, and some we have just found by researching what is available. We cannot guarantee how good these places are, but have put them down to give you ideas. I'm sure there are lots of other places or similar things you can find if you have a look on the internet. We'd love to hear of any great places you find. Some of these places are not open all year around, so make sure you check before you go.

We have a digital guidebook with lots more recommendations and links to a wide variety of things to do, places to visit and restaurants to try. We send this out with booking confirmations.

Enjoy rural Monchique

Monchique is a charming, rural town in the Algarve hills. It is full of narrow cobbled streets, plenty of restaurants to choose from and lots of local crafts.
Market day is the second Monday of the month.

Every year, there are some popular events in Monchique:

  • Feira do Presunto. This is a festival around smoked ham, which is produced locally. Also you will be able to buy other local products, like medronho and honey. The festival takes place in July.

  • Feira dos Enchidos. This festival celebrates locally produced sausages and cured meats. A local specialty is meat from the black pig. There is also music and entertainment. It takes place in March.

There is a monthly market on the second Friday of every month. There is also one every Sunday where local producers sell their products. This is in Monchique near the main square.
